The grouped formed in 2015, when Burn set his sights on putting together a Coloured hip-hop group to take part in SA's mainstream music scene. Always looking for a new musical challenge, he embarked on this journey and eventually met Smirre, who was part of Eldo's first hip-hop group, Blaq Cream and also famous for he's role in popular Eldorado Park produced film, Eldorado. Smirre introduced Dean Legacy and Phoenix (a former member) and the group released their first single Veil Swag in June 2015 and released a video for the song in January 2016.

The video helped propel the groups popularity as it was a feat that left many feeling proud and seeing the sense of positivity that the grouped aimed to project. The group currently sits with songs yet to be released as they have turned their focus to work on music that will give them a more mainstream appeal.

Chosen for their uniqueness inspired by their communities. KLRD's biggest achievement this far has been their selection to take part in Coke Studio Season 2. The show aims to mash-up artists from different genres to collaborate and selected KLRD to collaborate with another hip-hop artist, Gigi Lamayne. A collaboration that fuse KLRD's brand of raps, Bushie rap (a mixture of colloquial and slang English and Afrikaans as found in Coloured communities) with Gigi's own lyrical abilities.

The timing of their selection to take part in Coke studio season 2 could not have come at a better time as the group is already excited to release what will be a new sound and approach to their veil swag.
