Yesterday afternoon, after much anticipation and concern about challenges at Klipspruit West Secondary school, a closed meeting was held between the Patriots for Equality-a body formed to represent the interest of the school- and the Gauteng department of education.

Patriot’s for Equality spokesperson Anthony Williams has said that 14 of the 15 resolution points were agreed upon and that it’s a step in the right direction but they want 5 teachers suspended immediately.

But SADTU, South African Democratic Teachers Union says they are unapologetic in their action in calling all their members in Eldorado Park schools to not teach today.

The union strongly opposes the call for suspension of their members at Klipspruit West Secondary school. This action was suggested as part of a resolution to the disruptions at the school in the recent weeks.

SADTU disputes allegations of misconduct and the abuse of alcohol made by the Patriots for Equality. The Patriots for Equality and the Eldorado Park Business Forum who both represent the interest of the school signed an agreement with the Gauteng department of education on August 4th 2017 after the school was embroiled in allegations of misconduct with regards to an appointment of a principal.
