Ennerdale community shaken after discovery of a body at a local high school
The community of Ennerdale has expressed feelings of concern and sadness after the discovery of the body of a 39 year old woman who has been identified as Tracey Petersen. The body was found at an Ennerdale High School. It is believed that the body had been burnt beyond recognition with the victim's shoes and pants missing. Petersen was last seen June 16th at Tsietsi's Inn, a tavern in Extension 8. Lit candles and prayer became the symbol of solidarity as Ennerdale community gathered outside of the tavern yesterday from 4pm.

Girl Ignite Africa academy and Johnson and Johnson avails job opportunities to young women in Eldos
In an attempt to empower young woman in Eldorado Park, Girl Ignite Africa Academy in conjunction with Johnson and Johnson, are inviting all adolescents girls between the ages of 16-24 to the Don Mateman Hall in Ext 5 from 10am - 2pm today. Participants are encouraged to bring along their ID and CV or a motivational letter, young girls who have dropped out of school are especially encouraged to attend the event.

ELDOS SASSA recipients express frustration over new card glitches
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says it is aware that some users have experienced glitches with their new cards.
This comes after Sassa’s new cardholders raised concerns about not being able to access their money at selected Post Offices, Sassa pay points and Sassa office on Sunday. Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says they have already resolved some individual’s cards and urges people who are still experiencing difficulties to contact them on 011 241 8300. Beneficiaries who are still using the old card are urged to apply for new cards before September 30th.

Fires in Johannesburg raze 40 shacks
40 shacks in Soweto and Alexandra were destroyed last night after fires broke out in the 2 townships. 20 shacks in each of the townships were demolished after fires ravaged through the informal homes of its residents. It believed that no one had been injured when the blazes erupted however many have been displaced. The City Of Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Services’, Robert Mulaudzi has said that EMS is advising all residents in Johannesburg to use heating appliances with caution. Mulaudzi further stated that the EMS team would be heading to the affected areas today to assess the damage caused by the fire and will also be proving relief packages to those who are affected.

SA Residents call City of Johannesburg’s claim for power outages a fib
Residents have rubbished the City of Johannesburg’s claim that ageing infrastructure is to blame for power outages. This comes after South Africans have experienced load shedding which is implemented nationwide, but load rotation in Johannesburg may become more frequent as City Power apparently struggles with maintenance. MMC for Environmental and Infrastructure Nico de Jager says maintenance will continue under strict measures, an Eldorado Park resident, however, says the city is being dishonest, and continues to say that load shedding should only happen late at night and during the early hours of the morning when the demand for electricity is lower.

No bail for suspected murderer says Women Of Strength One Voice
Sowetan Mother, Nomsa Mbuyisa, was allegedly shot dead on May 30th 2018, in front of her 19-year-old son, by her ex-boyfriend, in Mofolo, Soweto. Her son said that witnessing his father kill his mother was the most tragic moment of his life and nothing will erase that from his mind. The suspected killer, who is applying for bail, will appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, at 8am. Carol from ‘Women of Strength one Voice’, is appealing to the residents in and around Soweto, to join the march, from Mbuyisa’s home to the Protea Magistrate’s Court, tomorrow, in a campaign, named #No bail for Nomsa Mbusyisa’s killer.

Court postponed for Soweto man who allegedly killed his girlfriend
The murder case of the Sowetan Mother, Nomsa Mbuyisa, who was allegedly shot dead on May 30th, in front of her 19-year-old son, by her ex-boyfriend, has been postponed to July 26th for further investigation. Mbuyisa’s son expressed that witnessing his father kill his mother was the most tragic moment of his life and nothing will erase that from his mind. The suspect, who applied for bail, appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s court yesterday. Carol from ‘Women of Strength one Voice’, led a march yesterday from Mbuyisa’s home to the Protea Magistrates court as part of a campaign with the theme #No bail for Nomsa Mbusyisa’s killer.


Public Servants Association not responsible for SASSA card glitches
The Public Servants Association says its members are not responsible for the social grant payment issues. Many beneficiaries are still waiting for their money, but technical glitches in the new payment system have delayed the process.
SASSA, however, says that it is working on improving the system, and will distribute food vouchers if necessary.

No water in Eldorado Park and Klipsruit from 9am-10pm this evening
Eldorado Park Residents can expect an interruption in water supply today from 9 am until about 10pm this evening. It is believed that the cut in supply is due to some emergency work that needs to be done by Joburg Water, and residents have been advised to fill up buckets and bottles with sufficient water for 11 hours of which supply of water will be unavailable, however water tanks will be available at various schools in Eldorado Park to ensure that residents have access to the water they need.


Court postponed once again in the murder case of 4 year old Shaynice
Court has been postponed to August 13th in the murder case of 4 year old Shaynice Talla. The accused, Cheslin Swartz, is believed to be a relative of the victim and has been charged with murder. Previous court proceedings took place at the Protea Magistrate’s court in Soweto, with findings of DNA evidence positively linking Swartz to the killing. Talla was found murdered after being missing for a few hours on September 27th, 2017.

PUSH appeals to the community to donate baking ingredients
As part of Madiba’s 100th birthday celebration PUSH * Persevere Until Something Happens* the organization that caters for children with disabilities that come from underprivileged backgrounds, is hosting an awareness campaign as July is Mental illness Awareness month where they will be baking a cake, and is urging the community to donate any baking ingredients.

Unidentified male corpse found along the Golden Highway  
Yesterday when police responded to a call from a passerby along the Golden Highway at the Kliprivier in Eldorado Park Soweto at 14:50 they discovered the corpse of an unidentified male between the ages of 30-35. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body wearing a blue jean, black T-shirt and black shoes. The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined through an investigation which is currently in progress. Police requests that anyone with solicited information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects be submitted to their nearest police station as soon as possible.
