The unabated spate of crimes against our young and innocent places a huge damper on the good news of an Ennerdale Gogo having turned 100 years old this past week and of Dalene Swartz having made it to the Idols Top 16. Infant's Body Found in Pig Stall
It’s been alleged that on Sunday August 19 around 14:00 in the afternoon the police responded to a call from a passerby about a gruesome discovery of an infant inside a pig stall along the Dlamini road next to the Freedom Charter Square informal settlement in Kliptown Soweto. According to the caller the pigs had eaten part of the infant’s body when the discovery was made. When paramedics arrived on the scene the infant was declared dead upon arrival. No suspects have been found as yet, however an investigation is underway.  According to the Kliptown SAPS station commander Brigadier Baijnath police are working tirelessly to find the suspect.

 



Family Haunted by the State of 9-year-old Rape Victim
The family of the nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered, by a family friend, is haunted by the state of her body, which was found dumped in the veld in Lehae south of Johannesburg. Vutlhari Sithole is believed to have disappeared on August 17 after a neighbor, who is alleged to be her grandfather's colleague, told her to follow him to his house where he promised to give her R10. The 9-year-old girl’s body was discovered after a 12-hour search on last Saturday in a small ditch on the other side of the Golden Highway. A case of rape and murder has been opened; however, police are still in search for the suspect.  Anyone with information is urged to contact Lenasia SAPS on 082 521 2907.

 



Dalene Swartz makes it to Idols Top 16
Ennerdale’s very own Dalene Swartz remains in this year’s South African Idols singing competition. The 20-year-old vocalist from Ennerdale in the south of Johannesburg advanced to the Top 16 of SA Idols season 14. Swartz originally forms part of the Ennerdale based band KLIC as lead vocalist, which she joined in 2016. The band’s repertoire ranges from house, jazz and original compositions. Eldosfm continues to wish the local contestant well throughout her SA Idols journey.

Reading Programme at Missouri-Laan Secondary Reveals Poor Reading Skills Among Learners
Following a reading survey that was conducted at Missourilaan Secondary School in Eldorado Park extension 7 this past Friday, the Butterfly Reading Programme together with the Minnisota Orchestra has donated a total of 12 000 books at the programme launch to reignite and encourage reading within learners. The programme kicked off 3 years ago and revealed that learners were not reading at grade level.

Ennerdale Organizations Host Surprise Birthday Party for 100-year-old Gogo
Some residents from Ennerdale, in the south of Johannesburg, have come together on Thursday to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ouma Enica. A surprise party was put together by local organizations at the extension 1 civic hall free of charge as a way to honour one of the community’s oldest residents. The mother of 5 enjoys singing, gardening and transferring her knitting skills to children in the neighbourhood.

Eldos Community Cleans Extension 6 Grounds Today
Ward councilors for ward 17 and 18 Peter Rafferty and Fazel Jaffer in Eldorado Park are inviting residents to take part in a clean-up today at 9am. The clean-up is to inspire residents to take better care of the soccer grounds in the community. The clean-up also includes the painting of the palisades and residents are encouraged to come and assist in their numbers.



2 Bodies Discovered near Kliptown Bridge
Police responded to a call from security guards from the construction site at the Klipsruit West Bridge between Kliptown and Klipsruit West yesterday. According to Kliptown SAPS’ corporate communications officer, Capt. Hitler Ngwenya, the bodies of 2 unidentified males were discovered yesterday morning and the victims are believed to be between the ages of 20 and 30. Police have further stated that inquest docket has been opened and is currently under investigation. Members of the public with any information are encouraged to contact SAPS on 0860 0010111.




Evacuation after Suspicious Device Found at South Gate Mall
Police say a suspicious device has been found at the, Southgate Mall, and the Centre, has been evacuated, this afternoon. It is understood that the Bomb Squad has been deployed, to assess whether the device was an explosive, or not. The police's Kay Makhubela said, that so far, the situation is calm, as they still waiting for the results, from the Bomb Squad.
