Joburg region G honours brave fire fighters at the Eldorado Park Fire Station today
Joburg region G will today pay tribute to the fire fighters who lost their lives in a Johannesburg building last week after a blaze engulfed most of the building that houses the departments of housing and human settlements, among others. The honorary service will take place at 2pm at the Eldorado Park Fire Station with all government leaders, faith based organisations, community members, educators and media being invited to bring a candle or a bunch of flowers.

 


Buckingham Street residents desperate for help following overflowing drain
Residents from Buckingham Street in Eldorado Park, extension 8, are urgently seeking assisting following a drain that has been overflowing since Saturday morning. The leakage has allegedly started spreading from house to house. Councillor Peter Rafferty encourages residents not to delay in lodging complaints pertaining to the community.



 

 



Tributes for fire-fighters set to start at 2pm
Joburg region G will today pay tribute to the fire fighters who lost their lives in a Johannesburg building last week after a blaze engulfed most of the building that houses the departments of housing and human settlements, among others. The honorary service will take place at 2pm at the Eldorado Park Fire Station with all faith based organisations and community members, invited to bring a candle or a bunch of flowers.
The honorary service’s meeting point is said to be on Cnr Main and Golden Highway open field next to the fire station. The program will include a word of prayer and tribute messages. SAPS DSD and EMS among others, concluding with a vote of thanks.

 

 



School boys arrested after allegedly robbing a female scholar at gunpoint
Lenasia SAPS spokesperson Captain, Hector Netshivhodza, has confirmed, that two teenage boys was arrested after they allegedly held up a school girl, with a firearm and robbed her cell phone.The boys respectively aged 17 and18, were apprehended at the Willow Street Park, in Lenasia, by SP Security, after the girl alerted them of the robbery. Police were called to the scene, and the two were arrested.


Silver and Gold medals secures National for Active Aging
The Provincial Aging Games title, is now within the banks of Eldorado Park, as the, Eldos Acitive Aging team, took, Gold, and Silver medal victories, in the Competition battle, that was played at the Ruimsig Stadium, last Friday. The Kick and Pass, and, Pass the Ball categories, secured a second victory in the competition, with Silver medals, leaving 3-time 500metre Brisk Walk Champion, Adnar Harvey, to grab a 4th Gold medal victory. 68-year-old Ednar Harvey, now goes to the National Aging Games, which is expected to be played in Bloemfontein, representing Gauteng, in Octorber.

Shaynice Talla court case postponed to October 24th
The murder case of 4 year old Shaynice Talla was back in session today at the Protea Magistrate’s court at 09:00am following a postponement on August 13th due to outstanding DNA evidence of the second suspect, the case was however postponed to October 24th where the 1st and 2nd witnesses will be taking the stand. Court proceedings resumed today in which the accused, Cheslin Swartz, who is believed to be a relative of the victim has been charged with murder. Previous findings, revealed DNA evidence positively linking Swartz to the killing. Talla was found murdered in ext. 2, Eldorado Park after being missing for a few hours on September 27th, 2017.

Learner allegedly threatens educator
An Eldorado Park Secondary learner will face disciplinary action after allegedly threatening an educator with a gun yesterday. It is understood that the educator managed to later confiscate the firearm from the learner, and hand it over to Eldorado Park police. Disciplinary action is expected to follow however the school SGB is yet to confirm the incident. Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirms details surrounding the incident.


An eye witness claims the gun used on a Blue School educator was fake
After engaging in an argument with an educator, a learner from Eldorado Park Secondary School allegedly drew a fire arm and pointed it at the educator yesterday. It is understood the educator later confiscated the firearm and hand it over to Eldorado Park police. Although no injuries were reported, disciplinary action is expected to follow. An anonymous witness has, however, contradicted the allegations, saying the gun used was presumably a toy weapon.

 



The A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign moves to Nancefield this Saturday
A clean-up campaign will be conducted at the Nancefied industrial area in the south of Johannesburg this Saturday as part of the A Re Sebetseng clean-up programme that seeks to clean up the city of Johannesburg. The campaign will begin at 9 am until 12:30 at Jasmond Street BP Garage. The executive mayor for the city of Johannesburg, Cllr Herman Mashaba, together with a ray of departments and entities will participate. Volunteers can look forward to a lucky draw for the global citizen concert taking place this December in South Africa, and seeks to campaign against extreme poverty. The stage will house world and corporate leaders, as well as music powerhouses such as Beyonce, Pharrel Williams, Wiz Kid, Cassper Nyovest and many more.

 


SGB investigates allegations at the blue school
In the most recent statement by the department of education the gun used by an alleged 15 year old learner is believed to be a black gas gun. SAPS confirms that the learner was arrested and has however been released in the custody of their parent. later confiscated the firearm and hand it over to Eldorado Park police. Although no injuries were reported, disciplinary action is expected to follow. The School Governing Body however says they are aware of the statement from the department, and continues to say that an independent investigation by the SGB is currently underway in order to verify all the details.

Blue School learner to appear in court today
After engaging in an argument with an educator, a learner from Eldorado Park Secondary School locally known as a Blue School allegedly drew a fire arm but it was later established that it was a gas gun and pointed it at the educator On Wednesday. The 15-year-old boy will appear at the Kliptown magistrates court this morning. According to the Gauteng Education Department's Steve Mabona their psycho-social team has commenced with counselling for the affected educator and all affected by the alleged incident at the school. School-based violence and other wrongdoings will be facilitated.

The A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign will be conducted at the Nancefied industrial area in the south of Johannesburg tomorrow as the programme continues in its fight to clean up the city of Johannesburg.

 


Blue School learner to appear in court today
After engaging in an argument with an educator, a learner from the Blue School allegedly drew a fire arm and pointed at the educator but it was later established that it was a gas gun and no one was in any immediate danger. The 15-year-old boy will appear at the Kliptown Magistrates court at 11 this morning. The Gauteng department of education has not retracted or rectified their original statement where they charged the learner of drawing a firearm with the intent to shoot. Eldos FM spoke to sources at the school who revealed that the statements made by the department were inaccurate. The school’s SGB is currently doing an independent investigation.


Eldos Active Aging hits training
Today the Eldos Active Againg took training to the Don Mateman hall in Ext.5, in preparation for the National Aging games, that’s scheduled to be played in Bloemfontein, next Month. The Active Aging Team, who championed the Cluster Championships, late in August, went on to take Gold and Silver medals, at the Provincial games, last week. The team also heads to Walter Sisulu Square, for a 4-hour, aerobics marathon, that will start at 8am, next Saturday, September 22nd, with everyone invited to watch or join the race.
