Soweto East Cluster makes 114 arrests in a week
This past week saw the Soweto East Cluster alongside other law enforcement agencies fight crime together resulting in 114 arrests being made for various crimes, ranging from murder, rape, dealing in liquor without licence and drunken driving. All suspects are subject to respective charges and will appear in the Kliptown and Orlando District courts as well as Protea and Lenasia Regional courts today. Soweto East Cluster Commander, General P.A Rampota says she is very impressed with these successes and congratulates the team for their swift response.




 

A 26-year-old male is arrested for rape
On Friday at around 9pm a 26-year-old male was arrested at Dube Hostel for rape. According to Eldorado Park communications officer Constable Fezeka Khobo it believed the victim was visiting a friend at Dube hostel on Friday January 25, 2019 when the suspect entered the premises and threatened to assault her and forced her into his room where he proceeded to rape her.

 


Liyaqat Court Case postponed to February 15th
After the court case of missing Liyaqat Akheem Mentoor resumed the past Friday it was postponed to February fifteenth due to the accused Onke Mashini having a new legal representative who requested that the case be postponed. The then three-year-old Liyaqat went missing on March sixteenth last year and was last seen with the accused outside his grandmother’s house in Roodekrans in Roodepoort. Estelle Delport the family’s spokesperson says that Onke Mashini will be appearing for a pre-trial on the fifteen she also added that the family is in hopes that they receive a trial date.




 

Eldos inter-high finals just days away
Inter-High practice pressure on Eldorado Park Secondary School Sport Districts, have reached its climax as we just days away for the long-awaited annual competition. The competition, that’s set to take place at the Sports complex in Cumming Road, will implement its first phase this Thursday, with all field events including, high jump, and short-put being contested. The second and final phase takes off on Friday, where all track events including- Short, Middle- and Long-distance running, Sprinting, Hurdles and Relay is set to be contested.



 

Soweto flying squad routine patrol sees one arrest
A 41-year-old suspect appeared before the Protea magistrate’s court today to face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunitios. As per a statement by Lenasia south saps, the suspect was arrested yesterday near the Grasmere toll plaza by members of the Soweto flying squad. This after police were conducting routine patrols along the N1 freeway when they spotted a suspicious looking silver-grey BMW sedan with 3 occupants. Found tucked in the groin of the 41-year-old was a 38 special revolver loaded with 3 live rounds of ammunition. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

 

 


 

Ennerdale GCSS host a meeting to address overcrowding in schools
The Gauteng Shutdown Coordinating Committee (GSCC) in Ennerdale will be convening again Sunday February 10th as it continues to address issues faced by the local education system. Just last month, the committee hosted a similar meeting at the extension 9 civic hall in Ennerdale, however, the meeting was characterised by poor attendance. In the next meeting, the GCSS hope to develop constructive solutions that will propel their agenda.

Robbers apprehended in ext. 4
Yesterday between the hours of four am a twenty-three-year-old male suspect was apprehended for robbery in Milnerton Street, Eldorado Park. It is alleged that the victim saw a tall dark man walking behind him with another man. The two suspects pointed a knife at the victim and robbed him of his wallet with his pension card, cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money. After a witness spoke to Eldorado Park SAPS and explained what he saw, he told police that he knows one of the suspects and assisted in finding him where both suspects were apprehended on the spot.

 

Cavendish Primary promises to dominate another Sports year
earlier today the Cavendish Primary School Sports Master said that the School is up and ready to dominate the current sports year again. it is understood that last year, towards the final examinations, the school did exceptionally well in their Primary Rugby and Indigenous Games, clinching 3 different codes and the Jukskei Championship.

 

Lifeless half-naked body of a female discovered in a veld
the Lenasia police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a half-naked adult female body in an open veld near the Precast informal settlement yesterday at around 1pm. The gruesome discovery was made by a community member who alerted the police. The deceased is an African female estimated to be in her 50’s and was found lying half-naked next to bare electric wires, however police say at this stage they can’t rule out the possibility that the woman was sexually assaulted. Police are investigating an inquest docket and appeal to the public to come forward if anyone has any information or contact Lenasia SAPS on 011 213 6000.

 

Eldorado Park Inter Sports competition kicks off
Tomorrow marks Day-One, of the annual Eldorado Park Inter Sports competition, that’s set to take place at the Sports Complex in Cumming Road. The event which is divided into two categories, inter- Primary and Inter-High, is scheduled to run up until Saturday, and will feature all Eldorado Park Schools, as Primary Schools fight for the field event's title in the Inter- Primary, tomorrow, with the finals taking place on Saturday. High Schools take their field event fight to the grounds on Thursday, in the Inter- High's, with Their finals scheduled for Friday. Residents of Eldorado Park, Friends & Family of our young athletes, are urged to join the fun, and support our Schools.

32-year-old arrested on house breaking charges
A 32-year old suspect was arrested on Monday after breaking into a house in Ascot street, ext. 8 Eldorado Park. According to Eldorado Park SAPS spokesperson, Constable Fezeka Khobo, the victim said that he had gone to visit his cousin and upon his return home at around 02:30am, he noticed that his SAMSUNG TV and Computer amongst other items had been stolen. The suspect is in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon.

 

Eldorado Park Inter-Primary kicks off
Earlier today all Eldorado Park Primary Schools, met at the Sports Complex in Cumming Road, with the common goal of collecting as many points as possible, in the Inter-Primary field event’s competitions, ahead of the Finals, scheduled for Saturday. Today the young athletes competed in all field events including- Javelin Throw, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, High Jump and Shot Put. Last year’s champion’s Florida Primary are already in first place following a strong defence against second placed opponents Cavendish Primary, and 3rd placed, Kliptown Primary. The Schools meet again this Saturday, in the track events final, with the hopes of being crowned the Eldorado Park Inter-Primary School Competition Champions.

Ennerdale crèche robbed yesterday
Following a break in at an Ennerdale Crèche yesterday the owners and teachers are requesting that community members who have any information on the incident to come forward.

 

Eldorado Park Inter-Primary and Inter-High on the heats
Today Eldorado Park High School’s, battled for inter-high field & track qualification, in the Inter-High Heats competition, that took place at the Sports Complex in Cumming Road. This morning the athletes met with a common goal of leaving the heats victorious, and qualifying for the finals set for tomorrow, with all field events including, Long Jump, Shot put, Triple jump, Pole Vault, and high Jump being contested. After grabbing quick final qualifications in Discuss throw, Javelin throw, and Short put, last year’s champions, Kliptown High, are currently the best performers. Missouri-laan and Eldomaine Secondary School also played well in the High Jump categories, with all walk competitions being owned by Willow Crescent Secondary School.

 

More Eldorado Park Inter-Primary and Inter-High News
In Inter-Primary News Earlier today Eldorado Park Primary assistant coach, Mr Matshabula, said that he feels good about this year’s inter-Primary sport, and hopes to secure a winning seat, in the Eldos Inter-Primary finals Competition, scheduled for Saturday.
This follows a set of weak play’s made by the school, in the Inter-Primary Heat qualification’s yesterday, where last year’s champions Florida Primary was marked as the leader’s, Cavendish taking second place, and Kliptown Primary securing third.Despite not having a good start in the competition, last year’s second placed champions, Eldorado Park Primary, have vowed to be more competitive in the upcoming finals.
