Runners reap the reward of their training in the 24th annual township marathon
Yesterday at the 24th annual Township Marathon that took place at the Eldorado Park Stadium in Cumming road the 21km half marathon saw Doris Doricious Machu Makhubela take 1st place in the male division with 1:06:45 while Mamorallo Tjoka took 1st place in the female division with 1:20:54. In the 10km run Filemon Mathiba and Africa Mailola took first and second place respectively and Cheslin van Wyk from extension 9 and Sizwe Hlasthwayo from Orange Farm took first and second place respectively in the 5km fun run.


Kliptown SAPS awarded for service delivery
Kliptown SAPS officers were awarded for their service to the country at the COMM Safety Awards 2019 the past weekend. The Soweto based police station was named the Police station of the year. The officers lead by example and their dedicated work ethic serves to be a reason why citizens to believe in the public servants. In a statement released by South African Police Service it has commended citizens for assisting the SAPS officials. The Lenasia Community Policing Forum received an award for the best CPF in the country.


24th Township Marathon a success
The Eldos active aging sporting group, Diepkloof Athletics, and many other athletic associations met at the Sport Complex in Cumming Road, to participate in the annual Township Marathon, Yesterday. The township Marathon hosted its 24th competition, with the aim and objective of breaking the scourge of drug abuse and reviving the spirit of athletics.
The competition featured a full and half Marathon, and 10 kilo meter Walk and Run races, with a grand Prize of R81 840.
It was Nedbank’s athlete, Doricious Makhubela, who took first place in the Full Marathon, with an amazing time of 1:06:45, and Mamorallo Tjoka, taking first place in the Half Marathon, with a whopping time of 1:20:54.The 10km-run race, was held down by Filimon Mathiba, and Africa Mailola, who took 1st and 2nd place, respectively.The annual competition also featured a 4.5km Fun Run race, where Eldorado Park’s, Cheslin Van Wyk, and Orange Farm’s Sizwe Hlasthwayo, secured 1st and 2nd place, respectively.

Eldorado Park Senior Citizens Forum celebrates their first anniversary
Today the Eldorado Park Senior Citizens Forum celebrates its first anniversary. The Forum was established on February 27, 2018 to help eradicate Elderly Abuse in Eldorado Park and its surrounding areas and works closely with SAPS, SASSA, and Social development, all in the efforts to help, assist and support the Senior citizens of our Communities. The forum will be celebrating its anniversary with a lunch at the JD Opperman center in ext. 2 at 11:00.

The Eldorado Park Senior Citizens Forum is hosting its 1st Anniversary today at the JD Opperman Centre in Extension 2 as a platform for dialogue around issues of abuse of the elderly in society. Senior citizens, representatives from The City of Johannesburg, local warn councillors and local stakeholders are in attendance.


Voice of the elderly uses their voice to speak out
Voice of the elderly celebrated its 1st Anniversary today at the JD Opperman Centre in Extension 2 where they used the platform to open a dialogue around issues, they face on a daily such as abuse and dealing with Sassa just to name a few. Senior citizens, representatives from The City of Johannesburg, local ward councilors and local stakeholders were in attendance.

Gauteng Provincial Government hosts post-SOPA imbizo in Eldos
The Gauteng Provincial Government will be hosting a post-State of the Province Address imbizo at the Don Mateman Hall later today, from 4pm to7pm. The MEC of infrastructure development, Jacob Mamabolo, is expected to give the Keynote address that will cover a number of issues around human settlements. Residents of Eldorado Park been urged to attend the meeting, where they can raise their concerns as there will be a question answering session during the course of the meeting.

With only 2 days to go to the official extension of services for one of Eldorado Park’s most esteemed Barbershops, The Barber Empire, the store is all set for its launch on Saturday, March 2nd. The Barber Empire will be launching its grooming facility designed to offer local residence an exclusive, 5-star experience in professional haircuts, grooming and pampering.

GSCC invites Eldorado Park residents to general public meeting
The Gauteng Shutdown Coordinating Committee has invited the community to a general public meeting set to take place next week Saturday in Eldorado Park from 11am the on-corner Main and Mahonie Single. Speakers on the day include actor and writer Zane Meas who will be speaking on women appreciation and acknowledgement.


Gauteng residents to monitor load shedding schedule this weekend
Power supplier, Eskom has warned South Africans that there is a bigger risk of load shedding for today as well as the rest of the weekend. Areas to be affected by load shedding scheduled for Sunday at 8am include Armadale, Eldorado park all extensions, Olifantsvlei and Klipriviersberg, however, it has not been stated when the electricity will resume. In a statement released by the utility this morning, reserves had improved, but maintain that load shedding could be a possibility. Yesterday the electricity giant said that rolling blackouts had been a huge possibility but further stated that their stockpile has improved since December 2018.
